College Scholarship Program Eligibility Requirements
The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, Order Sons of Italy in America, awards college scholarships to high school seniors through our Dante Commission on Education/Culture. One scholarship of $2,000 each will be awarded per district to Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania members or children of members who will complete high school at the end of the 2011-2012 school year and enter an undergraduate college program in the Fall of 2012.
To be eligible to compete for a grant from the Dante Commission, you must have an overall grade average of, at least, 3.0, B, or 85. Membership in the Order must predate the application by at least two (2) years. Although an application may be submitted based upon a parent’s membership, a student selected to receive a grant should consider becoming a member of the filial lodge or joining as a Student At-Large member of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.
If you are interested in applying for a grant, complete the attached scholarship application. Give the enclosed letter and forms to your school principal to complete. Also be sure to provide a stamped envelope addressed to the Dante Commission on Education/Culture. Remind your principal or guidance counselor to send the transcript and forms directly to our office.
Your completed application must be received at the Grand Lodge office by February 28, 2012 to be considered. Please note that the President of the lodge to which membership in OSIA is based must also sign your application.
